A bill being considered before the U.S. Senate is called SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) which claims to be protecting 19 million American jobs.  Today there are many web sites (such as Wikipedia) going dark in protest.  The normally governmental friendly Google is even posting resistance and calls to action.  So, what’s the big deal?  Stopping illegal piracy would be a good thing, right?  It would if that was there this bill stopped.  This bill will be the Pandora’s Box of Internet allowing the policing of content by the Federal Government.  Where does that authority stop?  No where if the government gets involved.  How long before offending religious sites, watchdog sites, conspiracy sites, etc. fall under their vigilant gaze either by direct investigation or guilt by association if even vaguely connected to an offending piracy site?  How long before that authority matches what China has in place to quash any opposition or dissent?

We aren’t saying it is or isn’t going to do that.  All we are saying is that it could and you, as a citizen of the still free United States, should know what is being planned in the shadows of locked legislative offices.  Blogs like ours that highlight the goings on of the puppet masters of the world, media and entertainment and their actions in the darkness could easily be shut down under the weight of such legislation.  We know the weed-like roots of such bills.

Stopping online piracy doesn’t need U.S. Government legislation when there are laws in effect already to combat such things.  And, although supposed White House opposition indicates an shelving of this legislation many believe this is just a misdirection to sneak it in another time, another way.  The best preventative measure is knowledge, action and opposition.  That can only come when you see what is going on in the shadows.

So, we are leaving the LIGHT on because it’s dark out there even in the halls, corridors and office of places that are supposed to help you!
